The Girls

Again, back to my sleepless obsesion over Oz books and characters.
After the first books was published, Baum swiched to a new illusrtator for his series, John R. Neil.
I decided to try his cartoonish stylings, drawing the main female charcters in the series that he illustrated: Ozma, Dorothy, Betsy and Trot. (Wierd names, I know...)
Not the greatest impression, but there was a dinner being held downstairs and my shy attitude compelled me to doodle away than actualuy socializing with guests.
My favorite in this picture is the one with the white hat (Betsy or Trot is her name?, can't remember) though others prefer Ozma and Dorothy (flower head and blondie).
Just coloured pencils and a good eraser.
That's all for now, folks. (Saying that reminds me of Porky Pig... lol)

Aslan

I finally put my sketch pad to use and doodled this lion up. I love shading with dark pencils, its so much more fun than painting on canvases :)
It's sopose to be Aslan from the Narnia series by C. S. Lewis.
I showed it to my father and he took it as the Disney matriarche in that annoying Lion King movie.
I was deeply offended because I absolutly (and unexplainably) despise that movie with a burning pashion.
So just for more clarification: THIS IS NOT A DISNEY VILLAIN.
So of coarse I had to label the face write away with a big 'ASLAN' on the front.
Okay, this hair ball seems unfinsihed but honestly, I'm not exactly sure how to draw lion manes, copying the face was hard enough :(
Ah well, he can just stay mane-less for all I care.
Done at home, in my sketch pad (which I never use, to the tolerance of my mother), one holwing stormy, winter evening.

Kathryn-Study

My sister was brooding me to paint a portrait of her (even though I've already done so)
So I got to work to do a draft, and this popped out.
It's not exactly on the dot to her characteristics, and I kind of ruined it by painting it...
After this, I began the canvas drawing. But I got so frustrated I dropped the project entirely.
Ah well, she looks kind of hunched but that's only because of the photograph I was using of her.
I think the jaguar in her lap looks somewhat comical, with its tongue stiking out in a yawn :)
She reminds me or Princess Laya from the Star Wars saga, due to those flowers stiking out the sides of her head.
I think she's still exprecting a portrait, so I may just be mean and give her this ugly paper one *laughs maniacly*

Burlington House Cartoon

Okay, so my art teacher wanted me to do a 'classical' peice.

This shaded drawing is of the virgin Mary (and Saint Ann's Hair)

It's a crop from Leonardo da Vinci's Burlington House Cartoon.

It took me the longest time and people started to comment when they came to pick up their kids 'oh, are you STILL drawing that?'

It looks better un-photographed.

Anyway, I enjoyed doing this face. It's actually more recent than other peices I've just uploaded. I finished it early this year.

I hope my skills are imoroving :)

See below for details.

Bedroom Door

My need to paint on something bigger than a peice of paper was all too great. Yes, my stupidity got hold and I decided to paint my bedroom door.

The embaresing thing about this photo is not taht you can see my crummy painting skills, but that you can notably have a glance at my PURPLE room... arg... *faints*.

When I get bored, I add some more stfuf to the door, and as you can see it's still unfinished. i'm begginging to worry it will never be over with :(

I know I'm going to regret posting this...

A work still in progress, a home project, acrilic paint (*shocked at stupid waste of art paint*)

Shaded Face

The face of some model from a magazine. This is perghaps the first time I tried shading pencils, and the outcome was rather surprising. I believe it's particularily good for my age and skill level.

Not much to say about this one... um... an art class project... shading pencils... the photograph is lopsided *giggles*.... ya.

Manga Attempt

Okay, so maybe taking my hand at Japanese manga art wasn't the greatest idea. Just doodling around a bit, trying out some new pencils and stuff. It really is nothing to be proud of, my cartoon skills aren't helping out here. Ah well, trial and error. I have a crazy friend at school, and he surrounds himself constantly with Japanese cartoon shows and card games. Watching all those YouTube videos critisizing the shows (whih he find hilarious) influenced me to try my hand at the art. Ah well, I always have time to practise...
This was done in the Summer of 2009, between outings and periods of laziness whilst I shlumped like a couch potato, just reading books. The background is till unfinished. Cartoons just aren't my forte.

Brown Owl in a Tree

I'm not sure when expactly I painted this, but I have a strange suspision it was around last year.

Nothing really new here, as it's been a fair while stince I painted it.

It's a brownish owl (the specific type of owl has slipped my mind) and it looks rather vexed if you ask me.

(I really have to lay off the books! I'M USING WORDS LIKE 'VEXED'!)

Okay, so it's water colour. Another project from Art Classes. I seem to compain about my art a fair bit, but I've really come a far way since I started Art Classes.

This painting is displayed proudly on my new easle I recieved for my birthday last February. From the back, with the hat balanced on it, the board looks something like Norman Rockwell's easle in his "Triple Portrait".

Renaissance Woman

Okay. Another canvas painting, again lacking much of my enthusiasm.

My painting skills are still rather poor, and this crutial element is displayed on this poor inoccent canvas.

I don't like this painting in particular, but then again, it is almost as old as "Dumbledore" (I'm refering to my painting and not of the character's age, even though he is accesivly ancient).

Ah well, with every class I learned a new skill, I guess I learned some stuff while failing at this miserably... I guess it's not so bad... I guess it's acceptional. That's as far as I'll go.

Acrilic, again, another Art Class project.

I think it's suppose to be a Renaisansse lady or something like that.

Albus Dumbledore

A long over due entry to my blog, I confess, is finally uploaded! This painting was done much over a year ago, and has been hanging on my wall. Albus Dumbledore, from the novels of Harry Potter, against a dark purplish background, along with two random blue moons hanging in mid air over his head. They're sort of just decoration...
Though the first painting on canvas I ever did, it remains probably the best I've done yet (so you can tell that my art on canvas is not that great...)
Acrlic, done at Art Classes aproximatly three years ago.
The truth is, I've been too lazy to upload anything for a while, and have basked in my annoying habit of procrastination.
For those of you have have either read or seen the sixth Harry Potter story, you'll know that this marveled old wizard was killed unexplainably by Proffesor Snape, the Potions Master.
But for those of you who didn't know... sory for the spoiler :(
Ah well, my habit for painting book characters continue, perhaps by the fact that no exihisting person is worth painting (or they won't hold still long enough)

Into Ozma's Domain

Okay.

I'll start from the begging

*takes huge breath*

L. Frank Baum, born in 1856, was a children's author. In his time he wrote many children's classins, but one of his most famouse peices of literature was a series called the "Oz" series.

In him time he whent on to write 14 different books about "Oz" along with characters such as Dorothy, Toto, the Tin Woodman, the Cowardly Lion and so on.

Later, after his dfeath i 1919 Hollywood adapted the ideas of "the Wizard of Oz" and turned it into an award winning movie (even though the Hollywood version was nothing like the book).

So, stumbling upon the series I quite enjoyed the long read. I admire the stylings of baum's work to the fullest.

So, this is a peice done in ink (2009) of Dorothy traveling to the Emerald City to meet with her comrad, Ozma, Princess of Oz. (corny... I know. But to equil out my painting done of characters from books, I had to even out the score some how)

First time with ink, first time with tiny faces i.e. Dorothy.

Peaches at Sun Rise

Anopther oldy, done at my art class. My first water colour EVER so please don't critsize it...
P.S. don't blame me if you find I have an obsesion with sun rises ('cause if you've seen my scetches you'd never bear to see another sun rise again)
:~)
P.S.S.
I love these little smiley faces!!!

Lady Kathryn

Listen up ya'll!!!!

This a portrait of the terrifying, ferocius, deathly

DUH DUH DUH!!!

KATIE!! :O

Hope ya'll think it's an exceptable likeness, 'cause this WAs done in only 2007, like a million years ago so....

BTY

I'll be uploading new pictures as soon as possible, but for now look at all my old stuff.

P.S. Kate's not this chubby in reality ;)

Christopher Peace

Okay, okay...

This is a random dude my hand gust scribled on my paper in the midst of an art class sesion (2007 probably). Also, for a side not, my art class bud 'Kat' and her other art class bud (who's name I regretfully forget) officialy named him "Christopher Peace" because they said he was too peacful (as if their unicorn scretches weren't peacful already)!!!!
They were also debating if they should re-name him "Christopher Robin", as if I wanted my art to be a daija-vue of a Pooh Bear character ;B

Me!

No, I'm not that good.

This is definatly not my work.

This is a charcoal impresion of me painting somerthing.

My art teacher's daughter (who is older than me *and much more artisticly gifted* has a habit of drawing her mum's students while they're at work.

She did this one of me and I asked to keep it.

So here it is

A good likeness maybe?...

Na, ma hair's WAY rattier! ;)

Clare

This a painting of a school friend named Clare. We've know each other since before Grade 1 and she happened to send me a picture of herself in a holiday greeting card. I decided to use the photo for a project in art class: paint a human face (DUH DUH DUH!!!)
I later gave it to her as a birthday present and it now hangs on her bedroom wall (she still thinks it doesn't suck like I do...) :~)

Midnight Vase

This happens to be a more successful art project than others, and I'm quite happy with the way things turned out, even though I did this around and in 2007. Not much to say but this was aimed to be a syudy (me trying to sound profesional about it) of a flower and vase done in black paint shading.

Hay stacks and Vitamin

First of all, I couldn't think of a better name for this one...

In beggining my art classes I did a series of paintings and drawings that aren't exactly my favourites now that I look back. Thsi is one of them. This was an experament I contested to somewhere in 2007. The project was to reproduct three images in front of the other, each with a darker shading exc...

I also had some fun with dark to light in the blue sky with splashes of orange in the air... ;)

Not sure why the hay stacks.
